Hoya Pubicalyx Care: Splash and Silver Pink Explained

Hoya Pubicalyx Care: Splash and Silver Pink Explained

Hoya pubicalyx is a vigorous, tall-growing Hoya with long leaves, often speckled with silver. It is one of the easiest Hoyas to grow and a great choice for a first rare Hoya.

Popular varieties

  • Silver Pink: pink new growth with silver speckles.
  • Splash: heavy silver splashes across the leaf.
  • Red Buttons: compact, with deep red-pink flowers.

Light

Bright, indirect light with some gentle direct sun encourages strong growth and flowers. Low light slows growth and makes leaves greener.

Watering

Water when the soil is dry. Pubicalyx grows faster than many Hoyas and likes a little more water in summer, but never wet soil.

Support

This Hoya grows tall and benefits from a trellis, hoop or moss pole. Without support the vines trail and tangle.

Flowering

Mature plants produce round clusters of fragrant flowers. Keep the peduncle after the flowers fade, since it will bloom again.
